Part Eleven - Preparations are Made

I told Hector the following evening. He was really excited. ‘Wow Mum, congratulations!’ he said, ‘I can’t wait to have a real dad!!!’ He promised to help with organizing the wedding as much as possible.

Over the next few months all our spare time was spent planning the wedding. We didn’t want a big ceremony, just Hector and a few of our closest friends. The first thing I did was to reserve one of the private beaches for our ceremony!!

Part Ten - A Giant Leap

Cyclone took me out to dinner at the bistro to celebrate us having known each other for a year. It was very romantic, he was flirting with me even more than usual throughout the meal. When we got home I decided that it was now or never.

I held my breath, leant forwards and…

See the Dawes Family Tree

I have set up a page for the Dawes family tree, come and learn about Ambrosia's family history!!! I will update it with any new additions and may go back further into the family history (If Ambrosia decides to research her family history further for me!!)

Have fun!!

See the family tree here!!

Part Nine - A New Friend

Life went on as normal for a few months. Hector went to school, he was doing really well, and I went to work. One day I decided to stop by the community pool on the way home. While I was swimming I noticed a man watching me. After I had showered and changed he came up to me and introduced himself.  ‘Hi, my name is Cyclone. I’m sorry if I was staring earlier, it’s not very often I get to see such a beautiful woman!’ What a cheesy chat up line, I thought. ‘I as just about to head over to the diner for dinner, would you like to join me?’ he said. He seemed a nice enough guy so I accepted. I gave Hector a quick call to let him know where I was.

We walked across to the diner, chatting and laughing all the way. He really was a funny guy! We got to the diner just after sunset and headed in straight away.

Part Eight - Big Decisions

Hector’s last day of school came around quickly. He would be starting High School after the weekend. He was being skipped ahead a grade as he was so clever. He was looking forward to it so much.
He was so excited on his birthday! He was jumping up and down shouting “Mum, I’m going to be a grownup now!!”

Part Seven - Life Goes On

On Monday morning we sat at the table together eating breakfast. Hector wasn’t at all worried about his first day of school. “I can’t wait to meet the other kids!” he said, “Can I bring friends home after school?”
‘Slow down!’ I said, ‘Just get through today. Maybe you can bring a friend home later in the week!’

I watched him get on the bus. He looked so grown up. He was the first on the run so he got to choose his seat. As the bus drove off I had a tear in my eye. I remembered how much it had taken to get to here. I didn’t have much time to think as my carpool was waiting.

Part Six - Some Big Changes

It had been a couple of months since Hector was born now. I had spent the money left by Geoffrey to extend my house, I now had two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living area. When I wasn’t busy with Hector I was teaching myself to be more self sufficient. When the shower broke, I fixed it myself, even though it took me 4 hours.
It was still exhausting having to raise a baby alone. I barely got any sleep and what I did get was just naps between feedings. I wasn’t getting to see my friends much as my routine was completely up the creek.

Part Five - A New Arrival

My first contractions woke me about two hours after I had gone to bed. To start with they weren’t too bad. I phoned Morgana to let her know what was going on and then I phoned the hospital to let them know that I would be coming in soon.
As they got closer together, I phoned the local taxi company to take me to the hospital. I would have liked a home birth but with the state of my housing at the moment it wasn’t possible.

Part Four - Difficult Decisions

While I was getting ready for bed one night I noticed that my bump was starting to show. I was already 4 months along and was surprised that it hadn’t made an appearance sooner. I rubbed it gently and talked to my little boy. I promised him that he would have anything he could ever wish for.
Once my first little bump had appeared I started growing very quickly. I was off work at 6 months because my bump was too big for me to do anything. I was starting to wonder if there was more than one baby in there!

Part Three - A bad night

One day, Geoffrey invited me to meet him at the park near our homes. I gladly accepted because I had just had a very stressful day and needed to blow off a bit of steam. I wasn’t too impressed when he started talking about medicine, but just being out of the house was enough to keep me happy.
Suddenly he stopped talking, leant forwards and grabbed my arm. He had the same look in his eyes as when I had first gone over to introduce myself.

Part Two - Independence

I decided that a good way to start was to go and properly introduce myself to my new boss. He only lived a few minutes walk away and I thought that it might make my first day of work easier if I knew someone. (Plus it never hurts to be friendly with your boss!)
I rang the bell and waited at the bottom of the steps for him to answer. As he came down I noticed the way he was looking at me. I almost said ‘Hey! My face is up here!’ but I thought it was better to start the conversation in a better way than that.  I held out my hand and said ‘Hello Mr Landgraab, I’m Ambrosia Dawes. I met you briefly in my interview this afternoon.’

Part One - New Beginnings

Hi there! My name is Ambrosia Dawes (Yeah, I know, strange name). I’m 19 and I have just moved to Sunset Valley. I grew up in the big city. I was part of a large family, I had 4 sisters and 5 brothers. I loved them all.

My parents were both thieves and were constantly in and out of prison. There was never a quiet moment and we had to go into hiding several times to avoid some of the bigger criminals. Eventually I had had enough of that lifestyle and I left. I was 16 then.

I pasted part 10 of the story and....
